Week 9 Eternal Life and Glory

My daughter in France on her Mission

Satan is waging a war on the family.  We know this and can see it in almost everything in the world today.  Satan is trying to be cunning and get the family torn apart.  We know this is happening in the world, but do we feel it in our homes?  Do we treat those in our homes different than we do those that we come in contact with outside the home?  Are you patient and kind and have charity towards your immediate family?
In the book Drawing Heaving into Our Marriage by H Wallace Goddard, he states, "Those who give up everything - their time, talents and expectations in service of their families - are the ones who get everything - Eternal Life and Glory."  How does one keep this focus in this earth life?  Why do we forget about the Eternal life and Glory that is awaiting us?
He goes on to say, "Those who will bear whatever is necessary in order to honor their covenants will be made glorious.  They will experience eternal joy.  They are after all, those who have honored eternal things above temporal things."  We must endure to the End.  We must endure in our marriages most of all and our families.  We do this by staying close to the spirit and keeping His commandments.
We need to learn to serve our families first and foremost.  We then must learn to be patient, kind and charitable with them. H Wallace Goddard also said, "Consecration moves us from acceptance to using our spiritual energy to rescue our imperfect partners."  He goes on to say that, "No partner on the face of the earth can meet all our needs in mortality we will live with disappointment."  We need to work on us and use the atonement in our lives to help us change to who we want to be and to who our Heavenly Father expects us to be.
James E Faust said this, "We must forgive to be forgiven.  The Atonement brings us a measure of Peace."  Who doesn't want Peace in their marriage or family. We need to recognize that the Atonement is used for more than large sins, but can and should be used on a daily basis for those weaknesses that we need to let go of.
We must overcome Satan by understanding that he is real and waging a war on us personally and also our family units.  We need to stay strong in the gospel and our covenants we make at baptism and in the temple.  We need to treat our families and loved ones with more respect than we do those outside the home.  We need to strive daily to build great relations with those around us and be better examples to our children and those watching us.  We must endure to the end to receive Eternal Life and Glory.
